Although many people think of roofs to be made solely of tiles or felt, lead installations play a large part in creating a strong roof. Here at Abbey Roofing & Preservation Ltd, in Dorset, we have a good understanding of the nature and uses of lead in roofing. This knowledge has been gained by investment in training, but also, most importantly, from our extensive experience. This allows us to undertake all manner of leadwork projects, including lead roof repairs.
Identifying Problem Areas
When undertaking any leadwork project, our roofers ensure that the appropriate investigations are carried out before starting work. This allows us to assess the condition of the timber base and the existing leadwork, identifying:
All of our work is in line with the recommendations of the Lead Sheet Association and BS 6915. Care is taken to ensure that the leadwork is best installed to combat the prevailing weather conditions across the areas we cover. Factors such as wind lift, which can loosen fittings and cause leaks, are taken into account and combated by wedging cover flashings into brick or stone walls with maximums of 500mm between wedges.
As leadwork experts, we have the ability and experience to undertake even the most difficult of jobs, from complicated detailing to very ornate decorative
finials. You can be sure that any leadwork we perform is carried out by skilled workers and completed to the highest standards possible. Over the years, we have taken pride in working on many historic and listed buildings, and we would be happy to complete work at your property.
